It's Lit’s Album Release Party at the Anaheim House of Blues, and the DNR show was there on location to bring you some awesome footage of that concert in case you weren't there and missed it yourself.
Now… Holy Cannoli Batman if you were there at the Lit Album Release Party at the Anaheim House of Blues in Anaheim CA, then you can feel what that statement means, because on June 17th 2022 the Anaheim House of Blues had an earthquake esque like experience, for at least those of us that were on the floor where most of the stage’s kinetic energy resonates across, as the guys in the untamed iconic band Lit put on such a party show, that they had the whole house just bouncing and jumping and thumping and waving their hands in the air, following lead of front man Ajay Popoff, thumping all over the stage. Have you ever seen Ajay perform live? If you never have, for me, he kind of reminds me of Winnie the Pooh’s Tigger, after he screams “There can be only one!” … And then just kind of starts bouncing off… Boing, boing, boing, because that's kind of what Ajay is like when he's on stage, he's got such a spring in his step that he's just all over the stage and gets everyone revved up… Especially when they are singing some of their most iconic songs because these are songs that everybody knows and loves.
So, it's easy to get into the show when you have such a charismatic front man singing to you. And the cool thing about his performance is that he comes to the end of the stage and gets down real low to be right there…face to face with the fans, picking out people and singing directly to them, making eye contact, and giving a personable moment. Which honestly a lot of us fans will wait extra time in line for or will pay that extra money if possible, for those line jumper tickets so that you're able to get in first. Because a lot of people who are down in that front pit area, they want that type of experience…they wait extra so they can have a little bit more of that interaction experience that makes it personable with their favorite artists. And if you haven't seen Lit before, Ajay is the type of performer that he actually jumps into the audience and he'll run through and sing with people and dance with fans and all that cool stuff, usually, he didn't do it this time no, but of course it could because of the whole covid restrictions and all the ******** **** that's going on right now in the world, so of course no one could blame him. But it was just an amped up concert, and it was cool that he did give that experience to the people that were out there waiting in front…
Some of my group included.
When you see the footage provided, you’ll know exactly what I'm talking about. They commenced their entrance with a sexy voiced flight attendant announcement, letting us know that we were boarding a flight to Lit-Ville. I'm not going to give out the rest because you can hear it for yourself in said footage. They started off with one of their first hits off this new album “Taste Like Gold” with “Kicked Off the Plane” and then went right into one of their iconic songs “FOUR” off of their 1999 “A Place in The Sun” album, giving us a good mix of old school Lit rock and jumping into their new rhythmic rock off new album “Taste Like Gold” right from the start. They also shredded out another hit off their “A Place in The Sun” album with “Down” and from their 2012 album they went into “You Tonight” along with new hits
“Do IT Again” and “Mouth Shut.” They exuded so much energy and excitement, you could feel it in the air, and just to be there, you could feel the thundering coming off the stage, especially with newest member Taylor Carroll at the drums. And when they belted out their most iconic tracks, everyone joined in and sang and danced and moved the foundation of the Anaheim House of Blues this night, in unison.
In between songs, frontman Ajay went into little stories of what songs meant to them and of who guest played on this album with them, including Adrian Young of OC famed “No Doubt” who was in the audience. And it was cool when Ajay asked where he was in the crowd, that Adrian stood up on the upper-level right side facing the stage, and you could see he was in the audience like everybody else just rockin’ out and enjoying Lit’s vibe and tribe along with the rest of us music lovers. (footage below)
And speaking of Lit’s tribe, for those of us who remember their humble beginings… They gave mad props to people that once upon a time, also started with them…they introduced and brought out Sean Holland, who was their original guitar player from when they were called… (do you remember this?)
RAZZLE!
They brought out and introduced Holland to the amped up crowd, because a lot of fans do remember RAZZLE, some do remember their start and it was rockin’ that they said he participated on this new album and played with them for their cover song of the “The Cars” massive hit “Let’s Go.” Which they went into right after. In footage provided, I got Ajay introducing Holland and coverage of this killer cover hit. Then throughout the rest of this party night we swayed to a mix of Lit hits. As they slid into “Last Time Again” Thomas Nicholas jumped in on it and sang with Ajay, which was just so much fun to see and be there for, and if you weren’t already harmonizing to your favorite Lit track, I know the wave of people on the floor were as one when Lit rocked a rendition of “Tom Petty & The Heartbreaker’s” song that of course everyone knows…as Ajay stated, it’s a Rock and Roll American Anthem, “American Girl.” Wow, no kidding, they just shredded the house with “Tom Petty’s” legendary American classic Anthem, and I heard everybody all around me, singing and rockin’ along with them to this song. Because the guys of Lit know how to bring it! And of course, what kind of Rocker would I be if I didn’t get coverage of their traditional closing down the house, with “My Own Worst Enemy.” Their most renown song that still airs on every rocker station out there.
At the end of the night Lit came out and signed merch for fans as many got in line and waited for their stuff to be signed. They had posters, albums, CDs, puzzles, and shirts. I had already pre-ordered everything, including the gold album, which is a limited edition with only 200 being sold, as it’s always special to have those rarities… I’ve gotten offered money for some of these types of rare memorabilia, but I just I can't let go of these memories, as that’s what they are to me as a fan, memories of the night’s experience. I just love that stuff in hand, so I too jumped in line and got merch signed and you’ll see at the very end of said footage, all the fans just being excited getting to speak with the band. Which shows how personable they are as well because there really were a lot of people in line, and it was awesome they took time conversing and taking pictures with everybody.
Lit really did stoke up the fans with a hypnotic adrenaline rush of shreds, giving us a “Taste Like Gold” kind of musical movement revolution where they and the crowd moved as one, inspired by the exuberating of energy and vibe of the shredding Lit guys.
And that my music brothers and sisters is what makes the shedding Band Lit, one of the most beloved American Rock Bands around and anyone that says not, won’t be able to convince anyone that was there this night, who took that flight… to
“Lit-Ville.”
